Celebration of Bliss

Dear Girl students and teachers!

All worldly dealings of present day are filled with three things: self-boasting, accusation, and worthless talking. But, these do not constitute the base either to the living-world or to the mental domain. Spiritual thinking is very important in order to carve and foster human nature. Spirituality does not stay firmly in the hearts that are wedded to worldly pursuits. It is a great mistake to consider spirituality as different from societal aspects. Society means a group (of people). It is not a thing that can be recognized in terms of figures or numbers. Society is formed out of equality. Equality and purity of thought are necessary for the society. Unity must be recognized within the diversity of humanity, and it should be revered as truth, consciousness, and bliss with a non-dualistic attitude. Only then, the group of men will turn into society, and this name becomes meaningful. Happiness is found in unity, but not in diversity. There is also the possibility of finding divinity in the unity.

Today is Gurupurnima, a day of thanksgiving to the Guru who had given the mantra (incantation). But it is very difficult to obtain knowledge, dispel darkness and attain liberation by mere utterance of mantras. Guru is the one who shows the target (Gurutu). Guru is one that shows the path in order to obtain proper answer to the question, ‘who am I?’ Only he who shows proper path to liberation is Guru.

Many people pray to me saying, “I want moksha (liberation).” For this, there is no need to ask anybody. Suppose you receive a parcel by post. Just as you separate the two pieces of cover in order to get to the item inside, you must remove the two entities, namely ‘I’ and ‘want’, in order to obtain liberation. The ego that is ‘I’ and the desire that is ‘want’ – these two must be removed in order to obtain liberation.

To view the one as diverse is what is called Maya. Moha (Passion), Kama (desire), Krodha (anger), Lobha (lust), and Matsarya (Jealousy) are all born and grown out of this maya. The feeling that ‘I’ am separate from ‘them’ is what is called ‘Ahamkaram.’ ‘Gu_’ means darkness, and ‘_ru_’ means its removal. He who removes ignorance is known as Guru. As the mental avocations go after the external joys, men are caught in the web of ignorance and are therefore subjected to sufferings. The principle of consciousness remains as one in all the three types of time. The divinity (or consciousness) that is unique has acquired humanness, when it is bound by the rope called ‘_Aham (ego).’ The principle of ‘ego’ should be removed, and the principle of Atma should be pursued.

Seva Is The Best Spiritual Pursuit

There are two types of knowledge – intellectual knowledge and spiritual knowledge. Purity of the gross is achieved by means of intellectual knowledge. But total or integrated purity is obtained by means of spiritual knowledge. It should be realized that all acts or deeds that are rendered towards total purification belong to consciousness only. Deeds like installing photos, decoration of garlands, devotional singing, and the like will beget purification at the gross level. They will not help to get the feeling of oneness or in removing the darkness of ego.

For this, the most wonderful spiritual practice is the intensity of Seva (Service). It is indeed impossible to describe the services rendered during the past ten days by the Seva-dal who had come from Andhra Pradesh and other states as well. For liberation, beyond this kind of Service nothing else, that the things like penance, Japa, or meditation, etc. is needed.

This verily amounts to worshipping of the form of ‘Vishva-virat.’ When you open the eyes you will see the Vishvam or the universe. When you close the eyes you will see nothing. Therefore, this eye is the science (Shastra). This Drishti (vision) is Srishti (creation). The form of Virat is in the spiritual vision. There is nothing without vision. This is what is known as the ‘practice of unity’. On the other hand, as long as one considers ‘I am separate, they are separate,’ unity cannot be experienced.

Education is very much desirable. But spiritual education is more important than secular education. Atma-vidya means knowing about oneself. To probe upon oneself. Who is he? What is the secret of creation? Is he a mere point in this form of the Universe? Or is he the very base of the universe? Devoid of this knowledge, people are bound by the shackles of ignorance. When this feeling of bondage is removed, one gets convinced about his own divinity (Isvara-tattvam).

What is the use of (spiritual) practices without
sense control?
What is the use of Yoga without patience?
What is the use of Japa without peace?
Is it not like tilling a rocky barren land!

Experiences are important in any aspect. This is what is called standard or reference (Pramanam). ‘_Pra_’ means first, ‘_mana_’ means measure. Pramana means first measurement. What is the first measurement for us? Humanism should measure against what? While considering humanism it is necessary first to know what kind of efforts we are making and what kind of behavior we are displaying. We will know that we are indeed defaming humanism. Man feels humanism when he acquires body. This is not the case when he assumes Atmic form. Peace is obtained when all hearts are considered as temples of God, and all acts are done as offering to Him. Otherwise, peace cannot be achieved by any amount of accumulation of money, fame, name, or comforts.

This world should not be viewed as a diversity. It should be considered as one family that belongs to Eashwar. Beyond this, there is no further need to prove ‘_Vishvarupam_’ (cosmic form). All people should be considered as one and the same form of God.

"There is one God who is ready to bestow
all things desired, like the wish-fulfilling tree.
Having obtained the rarest human birth
it should be our paramount goal to realize Him."

Dear Girl students!

You should now bring back to Mother Bharat the fame that she earned over eons! You must polish this fame in the light of Sai’s philosophy. Let your lives glow in subtle beauty. That brings you name, fame, and Sai’s approval as well. I conclude with this blessing.
