“It was Savitri the pious woman of Bharat
who had convinced Yama and
brought her husband back to life.
It was Chandramati the pious woman of Bharat
who could put off forest fire with
her power of Truth!
It was Sita the pious woman of Bharat
who came out unscathed from fire proclaiming
the sacredness of woman!
It was Damayanti the pious woman of Bharat
who, in her anger, scorched the
notorious terrorist!”

The country of Bharat is a granary of intellects and a teacher for all countries because it is endowed with virtuous women that are embodiments of truth and peace.

Students, the sacred embodiments of Atma and the teachers!

All crazes are bound to be subdued. Accumulated wealth is bound to dwindle. Conjunction is bound to be disjunctioned. Good and bad, sorrow and happiness are inseparable steps that are inevitable in human life. The castles that are built on the dunes of sand are sure to face destruction from unexpected and merciless gales. The blossoming lovely buds may be shattered by unexpected lashes of wind. Man must realize that human life is a mixture of good and bad. His ordeal starts with each sunrise; gets rest after sunset and he sleeps well in the night. These very sunrise and sunsets, that bring joy to people, are indeed consuming their life spans each day. Without realizing this fact, people are immersed in trivial joys.

Looking At Sorrow And Happiness

The very thing that gives happiness today may cause sorrow the next day. Happiness and sorrow are not separate entities. Divinity lies in their unity. Man may aspire one thing; but reaps a different thing. It is because of his defective approach to issues or events! You must be perseverant in all that you take up, and you must not leave until the expected result is achieved. But you get a negative result when you resort to devious actions. Man’s crazy thoughts alone are responsible for all his bad, mean, sinful, and detestable deeds. Therefore, keep away from such thoughts, realize the principle of eternal truth, develop intellect and discrimination through education along with necessary skills.

Man shines according to his virtues, not on account of his riches or other things. Effulgence is associated with virtue and pure intellect. Good path means proper utilization of qualities of humanness. These days, men aspire to dominate others. They aspire for good dress, good job, but do not aspire for good qualities or a good rebirth. Man is unable to lay proper foundations towards a good future. He is always immersed in sorrow because of meaningless and conflicting chores. He is devoid of discrimination and decision as to his real capabilities.

Student days are the proper stage for taking up necessary security measures. We have now introduced home science in our college. What is its necessity? What is its effect? This science teaches all things necessary for an efficient way of living pertaining to day-to-day affairs. Married women, after acquiring the appellations like ‘Grihalakshmi’, ‘Dharmapatni’, ‘Illalu’, etc., are remaining dependent and are in a state of despair because they are not moving forward with an attitude of development and efficiency. Everyone should be capable of leading an independent life and must achieve success based on one’s own power and abilities. Don’t develop an attitude of slavery. It is an irony that people acquire big degrees but are incapable of solving petty problems.

What Is Bharatiya Vidya?

Bharatiya Vidya, or education, teaches about Atmic bliss, self-confidence, and self-interest, in its true sense. This is Bharatiya culture. This type of culture is not framed through rules and regulations of any government. Those who crave for petty comforts may be called uneducated.

‘Vid’ + ‘Ya’ = Vidya. Vid means effulgence. Ya means ‘what’. Therefore, the one that provides effulgence and skill is known as Vidya (education). Any teaching that fills the student in ignorance, that drowns in the darkness of ego, cannot be termed as Vidya. Bharatiya Vidya lays a safe path of sweet words, sanguine thoughts and happy disposition; that leads to blessedness.

When Rama asked Sita not to follow him to the forest, then Sita spoke to him in sweet words of reason and fairness; and ultimately made him give consent for her to follow and to share his trials and tribulations. Our girls must emulate such noble women like Sita and Savitri. When Rama asked not to follow him, Sita said, ‘Oh lord! Father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law and others are supposed to depend on their own strength. But a Bharatiya woman is totally dependant on her husband. Husband is her only support.

Wherever we may be we must live like ambrosial siblings. There is scope to learn until we die. We are limiting this. We are dumping tons of library stuff into our tiny heads. Even then it is remaining empty.

"You can fill up when the brain is empty,
How can you fill it when already stuffed?
Is it possible to fill with merit until you clear this
stuff?"

Any stored material is meant for utility sake. What we store in mind has to be utilized in the form of worthy actions. We should not use it for giving meaningless lectures on platforms.

Many people talk endlessly; but they do nothing practically. They are heroes in talking; and are zeroes in practical life. Our students must prove contrary to this trend.

I bless that when our boys and girls go out of these institutions, they will make themselves as worthy instruments in the development of their respective families and societies. We should not forget the importance of vocational trainings like tailoring, composing, handicrafts, and the like. These and other entrepreneurial skills will ensure self-reliance.

In spite of being well-educated and selfless, Indians are generally slighted because they lack certain kinds of skills and methods. One must not consider himself weak or useless. We say in our prayers, “Papoham papakarmaham parmatma pavasambhava.” (I am sinful, I am an evildoer, I am born out of sin). This is the wrong way of thinking, “Atmoham (I am Atma).” This kind of thinking has to be fostered, even if it involves hardships. You must come forward to make any kind of sacrifices. You can do wonders. You will have the strength and courage in taking up noble tasks in your future life. Educational institutions are like a sea wherein old students go out and new students keep coming like waves. It is not practical if you wish to take a bath in it only after the waves subside. You must welcome newcomers and the old students should come back as well-equipped teachers. I conclude my discourse with a blessing that all of you become deserving citizens and teachers.
